NALSAR to conduct CLAT 2009 on May 17

Hyderabad: The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) will conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2009 on May 17, 2009. CLAT is conducted for admission to Undergraduate and Post-Graduate programmes at the eleven Law schools across India. CLAT Announcement 2009 Students who have passed 10+2 Examination or equivalent with not less than 50 percent marks for general category and 45 percent marks for SC/ST, OBC and Persons with Disability are eligible for the test. Students taking the qualifying examination in March/April 2009 are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2009. Aspiring students can get the application form along with the CLAT-2009 information brochure at the designated branches of Indian Bank, State Bank of India or in any of Law Schools mentioned on www.clat.ac.in against a payment of Rs.2500/- only (Rs.2000/- in case of SC/ST on proof) inclusive of test fee and bank charges. Veer Singh takes over as NALSAR vice-chancellor

Chandigarh: Veer Singh, professor emeritus from the department of law of the Panjab University , on Monday took over as vice-chancellor of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University (NALSAR), Hyderabad.A notification to this effect was issued by the NALSAR University registrar and was received by Panjab University here.The notification stated: "The chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and chancellor of NALSAR University of law, Hyderabad, has appointed Prof. Veer Singh as vice-chancellor of the university for a term of five years with effect from July 21." Veer Singh joined Panjab University in 1970 and has held many prominent positions including dean of university instruction and chairperson, department of law.
