Mumbai: The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), for admission to government technical and medical colleges will be held on May 12, this was announced yesterday. The CET exam was earlier scheduled on May 7. "Karnataka Government is also conducting its entrance exam on May, so we have decided to change the date of entrance exam," said Bhushan Gagrani, medical education secretary. For MBBS Courses : The candidate must be an Indian National. The candidate must have passed SSC or equivalent examination from Maharashtra. The candidate, at the time of admission, must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate or equivalent examination in one and same attempt from an institution situated in the state of Maharashtra with following subjects: English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). A candidate belonging to the open category must have obtained not less than 50%. Marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) takentogether at the HSC or equivalent examination. A candidate belonging to backward classes (only from Maharashtra) must have obtained not less than 40% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) taken together at the HSC or equivalent examination.
