Anna University to offer 3 new PG courses

Vellore: The Anna University is going to offer three new PG courses in M.B.A. in Hospitality Management, M.E. in Space Technology and a PG course in Advanced Architecture from upcoming academic session. P. Mannar Jawahar, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, announced this. Anna University has launched ANUSAT , a 40-kg satellite indigenously developed by the professors of the varsity. The satellite was put in orbit by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C12) launched by the Indian Space Resource Organization from Sathish Dawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The satellite would be useful for the entire nation. The satellite was designed, developed, fabricated and tested entirely by professors of Anna University. The satellite would orbit the earth four times a day. "On seeing the work of Anna University, other universities in India also evinced their interest in designing satellites," added Mr. Jawahar. Anna University expands its wings to Dubai

Chennai: Anna University got approval to open up its campus in Dubai from its academic council on 4th February. Vice-Chancellor of the university, P. Mannar Jawahar said that from the upcoming academic year four new undergraduate courses in the field of civil engineering, automobile, electrical and chemical would start in the new campus in Dubai. Faculties from Anna University will set up the new facilities in Dubai and provide classes to the students of the university. To culminate the initiative, the university also joined hands with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) to offer its first ever joint Ph.D degree. In the beginning, ten students from India as well as America will get admission for joint degree programme to do research in five areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology, transportation, construction engineering, information technology and telecommunications. Anna University to organize state level placement programme

Chennai: Anna University will organize the Tamil Nadu State Level Placement Programme (TNSLPP) 2008-09, for the present final year (2009 passing out) students studying in self-financing engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu on October 14-15, 2008. The varsity's Centre for University Industry Collaboration will conduct the two-day placement programme at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College , (Vattamalaipalayam). An official from the varsity said, "As per the requirements of Infosys Technologies Limited, which has agreed to participate in the programme, the final year students of B.E. / B.Tech. (All Branches) with an average of 77 percent and above from I Semester to VI semester will be considered for this recruitment programme. It is mandatory that all students should secure an average of 75 percent and above marks consistently in their (10th & Plus 2)."
