Education Fortnight Launched
HYDERABAD: Though health and wealth may decay, education remains indestructible, quipped chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during the inauguration of 'Education Fortnight' at the Government High School, Ameerpet. The fortnight celebration, to be held across the state, is an initiative under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and aims to overhaul the education system by ensuring total enrolment and retention of children in schools. The project also sets out to improve educational infrastructure of government schools by providing drinking water, toilets, furniture and other amenities. The government has allotted about `2,000 crores to improve the infrastructure in existing schools and construction of 350 model schools across the state. The inauguration of 3,569 additional classrooms in 3,273 schools will also be undertaken.
