Irritants still on CBSE college entry
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students who did not take the board exam this year will be able to apply offline to junior colleges but the government is yet to decide whether the admission will be final or provisional. State government officials discussed the issue on Monday but have not come to a decision. They said that the admission of CBSE students to junior colleges will depend on whether the CBSE interprets a school final exam as equivalent to a board exam. This was the first year that CBSE gave Class X students the option of appearing for either a school final exam or a board exam. “Through their own circulars, the CBSE has demonstrated that it does not consider school exams equivalent to the board exams. They had clearly mentioned that only those students wishing to continue in CBSE schools should opt for school exams.
