UNESCO Chair on Peace Education to come up at BHU
Varanasi: Paying tribute to Gautam Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi and the university's founder, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon establish a "UNESCO Chair on Peace Education". In association with the United Nations University of Peace, Costa Rica, the university is also contemplating to offer a post-graduate course on 'Peace and Development'. "A course curriculum indicating a charter of human values and ethics is also being developed," said a university official. In addition to above, establishment of a new Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development at BHU has already been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). A grant of Rs.7.5 crore for the same has also been allocated by the UGC.
