New Delhi: In limbo for nine years, the project of setting up the Indian Nation Defence University (INDU) has got a fresh impetus as the government has zeroed in on Binola village near Gurgaon in Haryana as the location for the institution, the minister of state for defence said. The Prime Minister's Office has approved the acquisition of the land at Binola village, near Gurgaon, along national highway number 8 at the earliest for setting up the university, which will institutionalise strategic thinking in the country. "Haryana government will be acquiring the land under the emergency clause. Setting up of such a university at Gurgaon will make it a hub of academic, strategic and professional expertise in defence preparedness," Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh told sources on Wednesday. New Delhi: Adding another feather to its cap, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has now ventured into Distance Education. The University is soon going to offer a 'Bachelor of Computer Applications - Industry Specific' (BCA-IS) programme, under the aegis of its Directorate of Open & Distance Education , in collaboration with the Computer Society of India.The three year BCA-IS programme will be divided into six semesters and will offer a facility to specialize in emerging areas like Telecommunications, Life Sciences, Banking and Retail, Software Engineering, IT-Enabled Services BPO/KPO and Embedded Technologies. The BCA-IS programme will also provide an option to exit at the end of 2nd semester and 4th semester with a Certificate and Diploma respectively.
