Rajasthan welcomes extension of SSA to secondary education

Jaipur: At the 55th meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), held in New Delhi on February 10, the Rajasthan Government has urged the Centre to extend the much talked about Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to the 12th Five Year Plan and sought allocation of additional funds in view of the State's difficult terrain, besides asking for revision of the Centre-State share in expenditures from the existing ratio of 55:45 to 65:35. Addressing the meeting Rajasthan State Education Minister Bhanwarlal Meghwal, said "An integrated fund need to be established for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). He also welcomed a recent proposal for extension of SSA to secondary education." The Rajasthan Government was also presented by R.P. Jain Principal Education Secretary and Ravi Mahur Higher and Technical Education Secretary. Mr. Meghwal demanded that new model schools and girls' hostels be opened under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in all the 237 panchayat samitis in the State. Source: http:...

IGNOU's SSA workshops for Master Trainers from Oct 16

New Delhi: At a recent conference on 'Right to Education', organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), rights experts and educators advised state governments that they should not wait for any Central Government legislation to exercise the 'Right to Education' and assume the responsibility actively on their own. "Taking English language education to the voiceless underprivileged is always a formidable task. English, being an essential carrier of knowledge in India promising prosperity, is a component in the government's draft policies of both 'Education for All' and 'Right to Education'", the experts and educators agreed.
