Admission Notice for Foreign Nationals only

The following academic programmes are to be offered for the academic year 2013-14

Hyderabad Campus

B.A. (Hons) English: Pass in 10+2 or Intermediate

B.Ed (English): B.A. in English with 50% marks; M.A. in English with 50%

B.A. (Hons) (Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, German): Pass in +2 or Intermediate

M.A. (English, Linguistics, English Literature, Literary and Cultural Studies, TESL, Media and Communication, English (Linguistics), English (English Literature), English (Literary and Cultural Studies), English (TESL), English (Media and Communication): A person with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline

M.A. (Mass Communication and Journalism): Any graduate with a minimum of 55%

M.Ed (English): Candidates who have obtained at least 55% Marks in the B.Ed degree/B.Ed (English)

PGDTE (English): All those who have successfully completed the PGCTE programme are eligible for admission

M.A. (Arabic, French, Japanese, Spanish, German): Bachelor’s degree and a certificate of B1 level proficiency equivalent to advanced diploma in the language concerned and proven command of the foreign language concerned

M.A. Russian: Bachelor’s degree in Russian or bachelor’s degree in any discipline with proven command of Russian

M.A. Hindi: Bachelor’s degree certificate from their country, knowledge of Hindi is a must

PGDTA: M.A. degree in Arabic or MOL with at least a 55%

Ph.D (Film Studies and Visual Communication): M.A. degree with 55% aggregate in any discipline in Humanities, Social Sciences, Communication, Arts, Visual Arts, Fine Arts

Any postgraduate degree holder with 55% aggregate with a proven experience of 5 years in cinema and other visual media industries is also eligible to apply

Ph.D (Translation Studies): M.A. degree with at least 55% in any subject including languages

Ph.D (Cultural Studies): M.A. in Cultural Studies/English/Humanities/Social Sciences with at least 55% marks

Ph.D (English Language Education): M.A. in TESL/M.A. English (TESL)/M.A. English with at least one course in the area of ELT (with 55% or equivalent as per the EFL University grading system norms)

A pass in Semester 1 of PGDTE (or an equivalent) with a GPA of 3.00 without an E grade; or

PGCTE (CIEFL/EFL University) with a minimum GPA of 3.00 without an E grade

M.Phil English Language Education

Ph.D (English Literature): M.A. in English with at least a high second class (55%)

The Ph.D programme is also open to candidates who show a strong interest in and commitment to the research areas pursued at the EFL University and have M.A. degree in a subject that falls under the broad area of Humanities and Social Sciences

Ph.D (Linguistics and Phonetics): M.A. in Linguistics/Phonetics/Applied Linguistics; or

M.A. or M.Phil in English (with specialization in Linguistics and Phonetics) with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or 55% marks; or

PGCTE/DTE (with adequate background in Linguistics and Phonetics) with a minimum GPA of 3.00

Ph.D (Arabic Literature/Language and Linguistics): M.A./MOL in Arabic, with a first class or grade A average; or M.A./MOL in Arabic, with at least second class grade B average and a PGCT/PGDT in the language concerned with at least an overall grade C; or M.Litt/M.Phil or an equivalent qualification in the language concerned

M.A./MOL in Arabic, with a minimum of 7 year’s experience in teaching the language concerned at a recognized institution

Ph.D (Russian Studies) (Language/Literature): M.A. in Russian with a first class or Grade A average; or M.A. in Russian with Grade B average and a PGCT/PGDT in Russian with at least an overall grade C; or M.Litt/M.Phil or an equivalent qualification in Russian; or M.A. in Russian with a minimum of 7 year’s experience in teaching the language Russian at a recognized institution

Ph.D (Hindi): M.A. Hindi (should have studied M.A. Hindi for four semesters; or two years in the year-wise scheme) with a minimum of 55% of mark; or M.Phil Hindi with a minimum of 55% of marks in M.A. Hindi

Lucknow Campus

B.A. (Hons) English: Pass in 10+2 or Intermediate

M.A. English: All graduates who have studied English as a subject in the degree course

PGDTE: All those who have successfully completed the PGCTE programme are eligible for admission

Shillong Campus

M.A. (English, Mass Communication and Journalism-MCJ): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with a minimum aggregate of 55%

Ph.D (English Language Education): M.A. TESL/English with 55%

A pass in semester 1 of PGDTE with GPA of 3.00; M.Phil (ELE); PGCTE (CIEFL/EFL University) with a minimum of GPA of 3.00 without an E grade
