City youth bags 57th rank in All India Entrance for Hotel Mgmt
UDHIANA: The Kakkars in Kitchlu Nagar are partying and with good reason too. Their son, Peyush, has bagged 57th rank in an all India joint entrance examination by National Council for Hotel Management, making them and the city proud. Peyush had written the exam in April and its result was declared on Friday.
Moving one step closer to his dream of becoming a star chef, Peyush, 18, is undoubtedly excited. ''Hard work actually pays, I can testify this after seeing my results,'' he said.
He will now be able to get admitted to one of the best hotel management institutes across the country. Ask him which one he prefers and Peyush immediately replies that he wants to study at the International Hotel Management Institute in New Delhi.

His mother Sudesh Kakkar said Peyush had an aptitude for cooking and was good at doing things around the kitchen since childhood. ''Pursuing hotel management seemed like a natural progression,'' she said.
The jubilant boy said his English teacher Paarth Ashok Narang was his driving force and motivated him to get through the exam. But he also worked hard towards his goal.
Peyush said he used to devote about 10 hours a day for self-study so that he could crack the entrance test.
His teacher Jatinder Cheema also spoke highly of his determination. ''Peyush was always open to learning and showed keen interest in enriching his knowledge since the first day in class,'' he said.
However, it was not all work and no play for Peyush. He enjoys cricket and used to play the game during breaks.
The success has not got to his head and he is already focussing on the future. Though he loves making 'pao bhajji', Peyush said he wants to hone his skills and make such dishes that leave an indelible mark on people.
