GUJARAT NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY-NATIONAL LEGAL WRITING COMPETITION 2009

We invite you to participate in the 2nd All India Inter-Collegiate Legal Writing Competition: ‘Cognitio’. The concept of a Legal Writing Competition involves the participants to deliberate on various pertinent legal issues and statutes in today’s society. The competition aims at honing a student’s legal acumen, expression and style of Legal Writing.

Topics: The participants are required to write on any of the following five topics: The Ephemeral and Continually Changing Dimensions of Privacy in India: The WADA Clause and Beyond. Cross Border Mergers: Implications under the Competition Act, 2002. Anti-terrorism laws: Distinguishing Myth and Reality. The impact of GST (Goods and Services Tax) on the Indian Tax Scene. The future of Product Patents post the 2005 Amendment.

Awards: The winners of the competition will be awarded Cash Prizes to the tune of:
First Prize- Rs.7000/-
Second Prize- Rs.5000/-
Third Prize- Rs.3000/-
Participation: Participation is open to all students pursuing Undergraduate as well as Post graduate Courses in Law in any University in India. The participants are required to pay a Registration fee of Rs.100/-. The last date for Registration is 10th January, 2010 and the last date for the submission of the articles is 10th February, 2010. All the participants will be awarded a Certificate of participation.

Hope and jobs for students at Delhi University's job fair

New Delhi: At a time jobs are becoming scarce and pink slips the order of the day with the global meltdown, there is reason to cheer. Delhi University's newly-launched Central Placement Cell has provided jobs to at least 200 undergraduate students with major companies, including IT major Wipro, pharma giant Ranbaxy and BPO major Genpact. The first phase of recruitment took place between Dec 8 and 10 in which around 154 students got employment. The second phase, which began Jan 21 and ended on Tuesday, ensured jobs to 45 applicants, while 440 short-listed students are awaiting results of their applications. "Around 4,564 students from 48 colleges participated in this job fair in which around 200 students have been ensured good position in top companies. The response of the students was good," Seema M.
