Global meltdown impacts IIM-A placements

Ahmedabad: The impact of global meltdown has been witnessed here in the campus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

"The lateral and pre-placement offers coming to IIM-A has been affected due to global meltdown," said Samir Barua, Director IIM-A.

"But as compare to the tier-II and III business schools the impact has been lesser," added Barua.

He further said, "Pre placement offers has been from the financial sector but they are also showing signs of decline this year as the sector has been hit badly."

"This year placements can shift from financial sector to marketing," Barua added.

Students having more than 18 months of work experience prior to joining IIM-A are eligible for lateral placements.

The pre-placements at IIM-A is likely to get over soon, which began couple of months ago.
