South Asian University (SAU) is an international university estd by the Govt of the eight member nations of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka)
SAU offers post graduate programmes in various disciplines that include Development Economics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Sociology, International Relations and Law
M.A. (Development Economics), M.Sc (Computer Science), M.Sc (Biotechnology), M.A. (Sociology), M.A. (International Relations), LL.M (Master of Laws), M.Sc (Applied Mathematics)
Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the master level programmes in SAU, a minimum of 15 year’s education under 10+2+3 (12 years schooling and 3 years bachelor’s degree)
Applicants who have done 4 year’s bachelor degree after 10+2 (12 years of schooling) are also eligible though, the master level programme will be of two year’s duration for them also
Applicants who have obtained bachelor’s degree in less than 15 years (under 10+2+2 pattern) will not be eligible for admission to SAU’s Master level programmes
However, students who have done 2 year’s bachelor degree and thereafter have also completed 1st year of M.A./M.Sc, can apply for admission to a Master level course at SAU subject to their fulfilling other prescribed eligibility conditions including percentage of marks which will be average of marks obtained in bachelor degree and 1st year of M.A./M.Sc course
Admission to the LL.M programme of study in SAU, a minimum of 18 year’s education (12 year’s schooling plus 3 year bachelor’s degree plus 3 year LL.B degree with prescribed percentage 50% marks) is the minimum prescribed eligibility
Candidates who have done 12 years of schooling and an integrated LL.B degree of 4/5 year’s duration with prescribed percentage of 50% marks are also eligible
Admission to M.A. (Development Economics), M.A. (Sociology) and M.A. (International Relations) programmes of study, the minimum prescribed eligibility percentage in bachelor’s degree, is 50% and for M.Sc (Applied Mathematics), M.Sc (Biotechnology) and M.Sc (Computer Science) programmes of study, the minimum eligibility percentage in bachelor’s degree is 55%
Admission to LL.M programme of study, the minimum prescribed eligibility percentage in LL.B degree is 50%
Applicants who have not yet completed the Bachelor’s degree, and shall be appearing for their last year/ semester exam for Bachelor’s degree, may also apply for admission to Master degree programmes and appear in the entrance examination provisionally
If qualified in the admission test, their admission will be confirmed only if they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria of aggregate percentage of marks in bachelor’s degree
Such candidates are given a provisional chance in anticipation of their qualifying degree examination with prescribed percentage of marks/grades and they will not have an automatic claim to admission
All students who are offered admission will be required to produce final results including marksheet/grade sheet of their qualifying degree examination at the time of admission
Ph.D: Economics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Sociology, International Relations, Legal Studies, Applied Mathematics
Entrance Test: An entrance test will be conducted simultaneously throughout the SAARC region on 24th March, 2013
Entrance Test Centre: The venues where the entrance test will be conducted on 24th March, 2013 in main cities of all SAARC countries are (Kabul (Afghanistan), Chittagong and Dhaka (Bangladesh), Thimphu (Bhutan), Male (Maldives), Kathmandu (Nepal), Karachi and Lahore (Pakistan), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and India (Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna (Khagol) and Thiruvananthapuram)
Applicants will be provided admit cards by email for taking the entrance test

The entrance tests will be held in two shifts on 24th March, 2013, Sunday
Morning Session: M.A. (Development Economics) and Ph.D (Economics), M.A. and Ph.D (Sociology), M.Sc and Ph.D (Biotechnology), M.Sc and Ph.D (Applied Mathematics)
Afternoon Session: M.A. and Ph.D (International Relations), M.Sc and Ph.D (Computer Science), LL.M and Ph.D (Legal Studies)
Application: Application fee for appearing in the entrance test is US$ 10 or Indian Rs 550/-
Applicants, who can pay the application fee by credit/debit or Net Banking, have the option to apply online
For other applicants, there is an option to download the application form, from website www.sau.ac.in fill it and mail it to SAU along with a bank-draft for US$10 or Indian Rs 550/- drawn in favor of South Asian University payable at New Delhi
Last date for submission of application form is 25th February, 2013
