New MCI governing body to meet on Wednesday
New Delhi: The newly constituted governing body of the Medical Council of India (MCI), headed by noted cardiologist Dr. K.K. Talwar, will be meeting for the first time on Wednesday. The tenure of the previous board of governors had ended on May 15. The biggest challenge that is currently being faced by the new board is the implementation of the Common Entrance Test (CET) fro undergraduate medical aspirants and the new medical curriculum. Members of the previous board of governors are under the fear that the moves that they had introduced during their tenure, the CET being the biggest one, could get thwarted by the new board. An ex-member of the board said that they had submitted all documents to the health ministry. These included the revised curriculum for undergraduate medical education, CET, regulations for postgraduate medical education, codes on medical ethics accreditation and the concept of the "Indian Medical Graduate."
