UPSC to conduct CDS I Exam 2010 on Feb 14

Naval Academy and Air Force Academy New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Combined Defence Services (I) Examination 2010 on February 14, 2010 for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the courses commencing in January 2011 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses (Men and Women) commencing in April 2011. Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country. New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2008 at 19 centres from October 17, 2008. An official release from the UPSC said, "Admission certificates to all eligible candidates have already been issued. Letters of rejection citing the grounds for rejection have also been sent. UPSC against transparency in selection process

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the conducting body of Civil Services examination in India, has opposed transparency in the Civil Services selection process saying that it would increase the probability of dummy candidates appearing for the examination.The Delhi High Court had earlier directed the UPSC to reveal the cut-off marks obtained by candidates in the preliminary test of the Civil Services examination.It also dismissed the UPSC's apprehension that by disclosing the working of the scaling methodology for the preliminary examination, merit can be compromised and candidates with less merit would be selected. It said: "We are of the view that the apprehension of UPSC is not well founded."The UPSC has also challenged this order with the Supreme Court saying that the availability of raw marks and scaled marks would reduce the Civil Services examination to a play field of strategies developed by coaching institutes.A lot of freedom has been given ...
