M.Phil/Ph.D Admissions 2012-13

GITAM University offers the following research programmes for the year 2012-13
M. Phil (Full Time/Part Time), Ph.D (Full Time/Part Time)
Eligibility Criteria
M.Phil (Full Time): Post graduate degree holders of GITAM University or any recognized university with IInd class securing at least 55% marks in the subject concerned or in an allied subject, can apply for fulltime M.Phil degree, and their admission is based on the merit in the entrance test GURCET followed by personal interview
Preference will be given to candidates with UGC/CSIR-NET qualification subject to the fulfillment of the above condition
M.Phil (Part Time): Candidates satisfying the above eligibility conditions can apply for part time M.Phil programme
Admission into part time category will be made in the following order of priority with service seniority in each category
Teachers working in PG departments of recognized universities and their affiliated colleges with one year of service
Teachers working in degree colleges and professional colleges affiliated to recognized universities with at least two years of service
Executives/Administrators/Engineers with at least three years of service in Govt/Quasi Govt/Judiciary/ Public Sector organizations/ Public and Private Limited companies and other organizations
Teachers working in Junior Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges with at least three years of service
Persons not covered in the above categories with at least four years of service after acquiring PG degree subject to approval by Board of Research Studies of GITAM University
Duration: The duration of M. Phil (full time) shall be 12 months; part-time shall be two years
Ph.D (Full Time): Post-graduate degree holders of GITAM University or any other recognized university with IInd class securing at least 55% of marks in the concerned subject or in an allied subject, can apply for full-time Ph.D degree and their admission is based on the merit in the entrance test GURCET and personal interview
Preference will be given to candidates with M.Phil degree wherever applicable followed by candidates with UGC/CSIR NET/GPAT qualification
Candidates possessing M.Phil/M.E./M.Tech/MCA/M.L./LL.M/M.Pharm/MD/MDS /MS degree at the time of admission are exempted from appearing for pre-Ph.D examination
Ph.D (Part Time): Candidates satisfying the above eligibility conditions can apply for part-time
Admission into part-time category will be made in the following order of priority with service seniority in each category
M. Phil degree holders wherever applicable will be given priority in each category followed by M.E./ M.Tech/ MCA/M.Pharm/LL.M/MD/MS/MDS and UGC / CSIR NET qualification
Teachers working in PG departments of other recognized universities and their affiliated colleges with two years of service
Scientists working in research institutions recognized by GITAM University with a minimum of two years of service
Teachers working in any degree/professional colleges affiliated to any recognized university with M.Phil/equivalent degree or PG with a minimum of three years of service
Executives/Administrators/Engineers with at least three years of service in Govt/Quasi Govt/Judiciary/ Public Sector organizations/ Public and Private Limited companies and other organizations
Teachers working in Junior colleges, Polytechnic colleges with at least four years of service
Any other employee not covered above with at least five years of service after acquiring PG degree
Duration: The duration of Ph.D (full-time) is three years for Master’s degree holders in Science/Management and two years for M.Phil/M.E./M.Tech/MCA/M.L./LLM/M.Pharm/MDS/ MS/ MD degree holders from the date of registration
The duration of Ph.D (part-time) is four years for Master’s degree holders in Science Management and three years for M.Phil/M.E./M.Tech/MCA/M.L./LL.M/M.Pharm/MDS/MD/MS/ degree holders from the date of registration
A part time candidate, in organizations other than GITAM University will be required to spend a semester in the university campus during the prescribed total period of research and complete course work prescribed
Admission Procedure: Admissions shall be based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination/ entrance examination and personal interview subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria
Candidates at the time of admission are required to submit the following original certificates in support of the qualification and reservations claimed in the application; Postgraduate/M.Phil original degree/ provisional certificate; marks statements of qualifying examination; transfer and conduct certificate from the Institution where the candidate last studied; certificate of NET/GATE/GPAT score card; migration certificate for candidates from other than GITAM university; date of birth certificate (SSC/Matriculation or equivalent certificate); Integrated community certificate issued by the competent authority in case of
SC/ST candidates; Medical certificate from not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon in case of PH candidates; Physical fitness certificate; one set of Xerox copies of all the above certificates; service certificate and no objection certificate from the present employer (for part-time candidates only)
Application Form: Candidates have to submit a separate application form for each programme (M.Phil/Ph.D) along with a demand draft for Rs 2000/- (Rs two thousand only) towards registration fee in favour of GITAM University drawn on any scheduled bank payable at Visakhapatnam
The name of the applicant should be written on the reverse side of the demand draft
The filled in application should reach along with all enclosures to the Director, Admissions, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam-530045 (Andhra Pradesh) on or before 28th December, 2012
