Admission Notice-2012

Ph.D, M.Phil, M.A., MBA, LL.M, M.Com Admissions-2012

Ph.D: Economics, English, Hindi, Management, Political Science
Intake: 5 Candidates each
Eligibility: A candidate shall be eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D programme, if he/she has M.Phil degree from recognized university; or has qualified UGC/CISR/JRF/NET/SLET examination and is a holder of Teacher Fellowship; or has been a Teacher in a Constituent/Affiliated College of the university for at least two years, and have previous research experience of at least two years and research publications comparable to M.Phil standard; or is an in-service candidate with three years of experience and has Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks (50% for SC/ST or differently abled categories)
Admission Procedure: The procedure includes written test and interview, which shall carry weightage of 60% and 40% respectively
Candidates has M.Phil degree from recognized university; or has qualified UGC/CISR/JRF/NET/SLET examination and is a holder of Teacher Fellowship; or has been a Teacher in a Constituent/Affiliated College of the university for at least two years, and have previous research experience of at least two years and research publications comparable to M.Phil standard are exempted from the written test, and in their case the interview shall carry 100% weightage
The program is aimed at producing innovation, ideas and knowledge reflecting and responding to global, regional, national and local needs and promoting inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach to research
Promoting and enhancing quality of teaching and faculty development
A supervisor to advise and guide the research would be assigned by the University
University may also provide Co-supervisor if the need be
Co-supervisor could be from any discipline other than the core discipline and could be from any other University recognized by the UGC and approved under the Act of Parliament or State Legislature or a Foreign University
Supervisor and Co-supervisor (if from other disciplines) will keep a regular repo about candidate’s work
Entrance test will be designed to assess candidate’s understanding of the subject area at PG level and in addition his/her perspective on current issues from his/her subject area and related subject areas
The interview amongst others will be aimed at evaluating the ability of the candidate to pursue and complete his/her research agenda in time
If found necessary, the University may allow a candidate on recommendations of the Supervisor to carry his/her research for limited period with a mentoring institution to be identified by the University
Similarly, if found necessary, course work may be carried by candidates registered in sister departments/ institutes either within or outside the University for which due credit will be given to them
Students provisionally admitted to the Ph.D Program through an entrance examination and interview and who do not have any financial assistance will be awarded UGC fellowships for programmes of doctoral research or any other fellowship that is launched by the national agencies
The number of fellowships under this category will be determined annually by the Dept
The university may not offer the programme if adequate support is not possible for certain areas and subjects
The decision of the University is final in this regard
M.Phil: English, Economics, Hindi, Political Science
Intake: 7 Candidates each
Eligibility: A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the programme of study leading to the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil), hereinafter called the programme, if he/she had taken Master’s degree of the University with atleast 55% marks (50% for SC/ST or differently abled categories) and or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent
Provided, however, that the cases of students who have passed examination outside the Indian Universities system and who may not have obtained a Master’s degree may be considered for admission to the programme subject to the condition that each case shall be examined on its own merit by the Admissions Committee and in accordance with the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee
Admission Procedure: The procedure includes holding written test and interview, which shall carry weightage of 60% and 40% respectively
Candidates who have cleared NET/JRF/SLET/Teacher Fellowship or who have teaching/research experience of more than two years on regular basis shall be exempted from the written test
In such cases the interview shall carry 100%
The interview shall also consider the following matters and make its recommendations; whether the research work can be suitably undertaken at the University; and the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research
A candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil programme should have a Master’s degree in the concerned subject or allied/relevant area from a recognized Indian or foreign university (foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation in marks to SC/ST candidates)
Admission to M.Phil program in any subject area shall be through a National Level Entrance Test followed by an interview except for those who have been exempted to take entrance test
Following are required to take only interview and are exempted from taking entrance test;
UGC NET/SLET qualified candidates
The M.Phil programme is a full time course of one academic year spread over two semesters
The first semester shall consist of coursework and the second semester shall be for writing dissertation
A student shall have to complete all requirements of the first semester in order to be promoted to the second semester
The end-semester examination for the 1st semester shall be held once a year on the dates prescribed by the university
A student enrolled shall have to take a compulsory course on Research Methodology
The University may not offer the programme if adequate support is not possible for certain areas and subjects
The decision of the University is final in this regard
M.A. (Economics)
Intake: 15 students
Eligibility: Students who have completed undergraduate education from a recognized Indian or foreign university (foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc (Hons) Economics and secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks
In the case of Universities where the B.A./B.Sc (Hons) Economics degree includes courses other than Economics, the course shall be treated as an Honours course only if it contains at least 55% marks of the total marks in respect of papers in economics
55% or more marks in Graduate/Post Graduate degree in any other subject from any recognized Indian University and who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the University
M.A. (Education)
Intake: 15 students
Eligibility: A candidate seeking admission to the M.A. (Education) course should have at least 50% marks in the Bachelor’s degree examination (a three year course after the 10+2 examination) from any recognized Indian University and who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the University
MBA (Master of Business Administration)
Intake: 15 students
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 50% marks aggregate and who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the University
LL.M (Master of Law)
Intake: 10 students
Eligibility: All candidates having a three year/five year LL.B degree from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade point in the aggregate and who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the University
M.Com (Master of Commerce)
Intake: 10 students
Eligibility: A candidate seeking admission to M.Com course must have passed B.Com (Hons) degree from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 50% marks; or passed B.Com (Pass) or B.Com degree from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 55% marks; or Passed B.A. (Hons) Economics degree from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 50% marks; or Passed BBS, BBA, BIFA and BBE degree from a recognized Indian or Foreign university (Foreign recognition to be as per AIU list) with at least 60%; and who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the University
Entrance Exam: The entrance examination for above courses will be held on 15th July, 2012
The candidates are advised to refer to the University website www.cuharyana.org and report for entrance examination and interview on the stipulated dates and time at the designated centre
The University may not offer the programme if adequate support is not possible for certain areas and subjects
The decision of the University will be final in this regard
The centre and time of entrance examination (for all courses mentioned above) as also date, centre and time of interview (for M.Phil and Ph.D) will be displayed on website www.cuharyana.org on 06th July, 2012 along with the list of shortlisted candidates
Application Form: The filled in application form, complete in all respects along with requisite fee of Rs 350/- (Rs 250/- in case of OBC and Rs 150/- in case of SC/ST/PH) through demand draft favouring Central University of Haryana payable at Narnaul and along with a tentative synopsis of 300 words (for M.Phil students), 500 words (for Ph.D students) in area/topic in which the scholar will propose to carry out his/her research, should reach Central University of Haryana, Temporary Camp Office, Govt B.Ed College Building, Narnaul (Distt Mahendergarh), Haryana up to 5.00 p.m. of 25th June, 2012
Incomplete application or application received beyond the scheduled date and time shall be summarily rejected and university will not be responsible for any postal delay
