M.A.: Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development

Programmes to be offered from Tata Institute of Social Sciences campuses
M.A. (Rural Development and Governance) to be offered only from TISS Hyderabad
The course is open for young Graduates with a Bachelors degree with a pass class cleared in one sitting
The course is also open for Development Practitioners, Policymakers, Government line Ministry Staff and Programme Managers, to engage in complex local governance processes
It is suitable for Government Officials of different levels, project and programme managers, policy makers, consultants, NGO staff, staff from federations of community organisations or private sector organizations
M.A. (Social Work) to be offered only from Guwahati campus
MA in Social Work programme aims to create a cadre of young social workers who work with communities towards social justice, and aim to find innovative solutions towards the same
Individuals with Bachelors degree in any discipline with minimum of 3 years (10+2+3 years of education) are eligible to apply for the course
M.A. (Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development) to be offered only from Guwahati campus
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum of 3 years of education (post 10+2) are eligible to apply for the course
MLIS (Master of Library and Information Science) to be offered only from Mumbai campus
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 year duration or equivalent education (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirement of 15 years of formal education), in any discipline are eligible to apply
This programme will be offered only at the Mumbai campus and the intake will be 15 seats
Scholarship: Scholarships on the basis of Merit and Merit-cum-Need basis are available for students of Master’s Degree Programmes
Financial assistance is also available from the Student Welfare Fund of the Institute
All the SC/ST/OBC (NC) candidates eligible for post-matric scholarship are initially exempted from paying tuition fees, hostel and dining hall charges subject to filling up the scholarship form and get sanction from respective states
TISS-Masters Admission Test (TISS-MAT): Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria, apply for the programme online and are found to be eligible upon verification of all the information, will be called for an entrance test and personal interview
Successful candidates whose names appear in the final admission list will qualify to join the programme
Candidates who apply for this programme are expected to clear an entrance test
The entrance test will be held on 16th-17th July, 2012 in Hyderabad for candidates who have applied for the Rural Development and Governance course and in Guwahati for candidates who have applied for Social Work and Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development Programmes
Candidates who have applied for MLISc programme can appear for entrance examination in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Guwahati campuses
Candidates with visual impairment will be given extra time and a reader to support their appearance at the entrance test
Necessary information has to be provided in the application form
Application Procedure: All candidates are required to apply online through the e-application only, available on the Institute’s website www.MA-programmes.tiss.edu
Application Fees: Application fees Rs 975/- (Rs 950/- application fee plus Rs 25/- as bank processing charges) to be deposited in Power Jyoti account or payment getaway
In case of payment by cash deposit in SBI branch, please note that the SBI will charge processing fee for each deposit, which cannot be adjusted against the application fee
Payment made through demand draft, pay order or any other than the mode specified above will not be accepted and the application will be rejected and no communication to this effect will be sent to such candidates
Admit Card: The admit card will be sent on 05th July, 2012, by e-mail to the candidate
Those candidates who have not received their admit card by 07th July, 2012, may register their complaint by sending an e-mail to tisscare@tiss.edu or call 022-40110457
For candidates who register their complaints, a duplicate admit card will be sent a day prior to the entrance test to his/her respective centre
Duplicate admit cards will not be issued on the day of the entrance test
Request for change in the date for the Entrance Test will not be considered

Final list of candidates on TISS website: 10th July, 2012
Entrance test and personal interviews in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Guwahati: 16th-17th July, 2012
Declaration of results: 23rd July, 2012
Last date for payment of fees by selected candidates: 30th July, 2012
Commencement of academic session: 01st August, 2012
Waiting list: 07th August, 2012
Close admissions: 10th August, 2012
