Scotland universities offer scholarship fund

Hundreds of young sports stars, musicians and scholars around the world are being offered the chance to study at one of Scotland's universities, because of a £750,000 (US$ 1.2 million) scholarship fund launched by the University of Abertay, Dundee. The overseas student scholarship fund is open to students living outside the European Union and the European free trade area, who are liable to pay overseas tuition fees and whom Abertay believes would bring to the university additional personal and academic qualities. The new scholarship fund will support individual scholarships based on academic merit, and/or personal achievement in either sports or music. The scholarships will be available for students enrolling for study at Abertay in September 2012. The university has set January 31, 2012 as the deadline for applications for the first round of awards. Two further rounds of applications will be invited in April and July 2012. Students applying for either undergraduate or postgraduate studies will be eligible to apply for a scholarship. For details, log on to www.abertay.ac.uk/applying/overseas/scholarships.
