Scholarship scheme
The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), Asia's largest conductor of Olympiad exams and India's leading registered non-profit educational organisation, has started its Olympiad 2011 in Delhi. SOF has announced its scholarship programme for the girl child and will be organising state-level award functions across India. SOF is covering 950 cities from where over 14,000 schools will enrol for their Olympiad exams enabling millions of students to appear for the Olympiads annually.
On the occasion, Mahabir Singh, executive director, SOF India, said, "Through such activities, we want to encourage and motivate participants across the country. Many students are brilliant and hard working, but they are unable to make it to the international level. We will be felicitating the top students, principals and teachers from distinguished schools of every zone."
The Girl Child Scholarship scheme will provide financial assistance to girls from the economically weaker section to enable them to continue their school education. Around 75 needy girls will be provided with an education scholarship amounting to Rs 18,000 each for their education for a full year. Nominations for these scholarships will be received from schools and 75 deserving children will be selected for the scholarship.
