Patna University hikes fee for exam work
PATNA: Patna University (PU) has finally enhanced the teachers' remuneration for various examination-related duties. A formal notification to this effect was issued by the university on Wednesday.
Welcoming the PU's decision, Patna University Teachers' Association general secretary Randhir Kumar Singh said the remuneration for examination and evaluation works had been revised after more than a decade.
He pointed out that while Delhi University pays Rs 160 per session for invigilation work, PU used to pay only Rs 50. Similarly, a PU teacher was getting only Rs 8 to 10 for evaluating an answer book, whereas teachers of other universities are given Rs 20 to 25 for the same job, he added.
According to the new notification, the rate of question paper setting for post-graduation courses has been revised from Rs 300 to Rs 400, while the rate of evaluation has been revised from Rs 10 to Rs 15 per answer book. Similarly, the rate of paper setting for PG diploma courses has been revised from Rs 250 to Rs 350. For undergraduate courses, the rate of paper setting and evaluation of answer book has been enhanced to Rs 350 and Rs 12 respectively.
The rate of invigilation charges has also been revised from Rs 50 to Rs 100 per sitting of examination. During the period of holidays, teachers would get an additional amount of Rs 75 for conveyance and Rs 25 for breakfast, besides their examination remuneration. The rates of class III and IV employees engaged in examination and evaluation works has also been enhanced.
Meanwhile, PU has directed the heads of postgraduate departments and principals of colleges to implement the recent directive of the UGC regarding use of computers by people with disabilities for writing examinations. They have been directed to allow use of computer for writing answers in examinations to those students who cannot write with their hands. Earlier, students with visual impairment only were allowed to use computer for writing their examinations.
