Start admissions, Education Dept tells New Era School
The School Education Department has sent a notice to South Mumbai’s New Era School directing it to start the admission process for this academic year. Parents had approached School Education Minister Rajendra Darda recently after the school failed to conduct the admission process for the third consecutive year.
The notice was sent on April 28. “The notice was sent following repeated complaints from parents. A hearing on the matter was conducted on April 19 in the presence of Education Minister, education secretary and deputy director of school education. The school will have to start the admission process compulsorily,” H V Gadhari, Education Inspector, South Zone said.
Parents have alleged that the school has not taken any new students for three years. Numerous calls to principal Malti Ranjen went unanswered.
Manoj Doshim, vice president of the school’s PTA, said they had approached the court and education department last year after the school decided to shift the SSC section to another building in Fort citing repair works for the existing building. “The decision of the education department was in our favour but the school did not start the admission process.
