Exam preparation

With a few days to go, your hazy black and white medical dream should begin to appear in technicolour. The Institute Of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) has its exams coming up (June 12) which will admit students into one of India’s highest-ranked medical colleges. IMS-BHU is one of the three institutes of BHU and comprises — The Faculty of Medicine, which conducts MBBS, MD and MS courses in different disciplines; DM and M.Ch courses in different superspecialities; Ph.D ourses and M.Sc (Health Statistics) besides a few PG Diploma courses. The Faculty of Dental Sciences, which conducts MDS and BDS courses and the Faculty of Ayurveda, which conducts BAMS, MD (Ay) and MS (Ay) and Ph.D courses besides a few PG Diploma programmes.

If you know your target well enough then, a few sincere hours of study every day can easily help you crack the BHU-PMT. In the Biology section pay special attention to animal classification. Phylum protozoa, morphology and the anatomy of a cockroach and earthworm, a detailed study of lac and the silkworm are some areas that should be thoroughly prepared.

In the Physics and Chemistry section take a good look at problems based on conservation laws across all the PMTs. You must pay more attention and do some last minute revision of your weak topics. Under no circumstances must you begin to study anything new. Review the key points the day before your test. Remember, whatever you now know will hold you in good stead. Think logically and answer from your knowledge base. Experts advise that you get 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep if you want to perform at your best. Brush up all the important topics during the last rounds of revision and give extra attention to the topics.
