A course to help women get back to work after sabbatical

Gurgaon: Women who often grapple with re-joining work after a sabbatical now have help on hand, courtesy a course offered by a business school here.

School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL), a business school, is offering a one-year programme titled Career Reconnect for Women.

According to a statement, the programme will help women gain insight into relevant and contemporary areas of business that will help them rejoin corporate life or start their own entrepreneurial venture.

"A large pool of educated women today is consciously putting their career on hold for raising family," the statement said.

"When she decides to return to work and resume her career, she deals with issues such as making up for her time away from work and explaining the gap in the employment history," it added.

"Understanding the increasing career aspirations of Indian women, the changing mindsets of women and their families and the rising importance of a higher education qualification among the nation's youth, SOIL has introduced a specialized course dedicated to women," it added.

There is an Individual Development Plan in the programme in which the student will undergo psychometric assessments.

It is mentoring driven, in which each student will be mentored by a woman mentor.

Other key features are: Application Focus in which it will be seen if students can apply concepts that they learn and Action Learning where students will work on real life projects.

While the course itself is of six weeks' duration, it will be spread across one year. The total fee for the programme, which will begin August this year, is Rs.7,46,950 that includes accommodation and meals.

Another programme to be introduced this year by the school is Early Entrepreneur Development Programme aimed at those who may be first-time entrepreneurs or have a family businesses.

"This programme will help them understand all the nuances of entrepreneurship and how they can set up, manage and grow their venture," the statement said.

"To supplement learning in the classroom, each student will have an exclusive mentor to assist his or her specific needs as a sounding board," it added.

This one-year, part-time programme will begin July this year. IANS
