MYSORE – ILHEDE NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2011 – KARNATAKA STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY

The conference will explore the contribution of “Information Literacy and Higher Education in digital environment” in defining the concept of information literacy, ability to identify, locate, find, access, use, evaluate and communicate information as widely as possible. It is the cornerstone of learning and an essential skill in the digital environment era of life-long learning. The idea of information literacy, emerging with the advent of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the early 1970s, has grown, taken shape and strengthened to become recognized as the critical literacy for the twenty-first century. Information literacy (IL) is inextricably associated with information practices and critical thinking in the digital environment. It is generally seen as pivotal to the pursuit of lifelong learning, and central to achieving both personal empowerment and economic development.

Information Literacy and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)
Information Literacy and Open Distance Learning System.

Who May Participate : Library & Information professionals from academic, special and public libraries, conservators, IT professionals, publishers, authors, teachers, students and all users of libraries, Information Technology professionals, Content and knowledge managers, Policy makers, Information providers and vendors, e-publishers and virtual electronic communities & others.

Call For Papers : The contributors can send their papers on any of the themes and sub themes besides any topic of their interest relevant to the theme or sub-themes of the conference. Abstract of approximate 150 words, summarizing the presentation along with key words should be submitted within the stipulated date for acceptance. The authors should send their papers through e-mail and a hard copy by post to the Organizing Secretary, Dr. J. Shivarama, National Conference on “Information Literacy and Higher Education in Digital Environment”, Karnataka State Open University, Mysore.

Registration Fee :
All participants have to register themselves with the required registration fee well in advance as per the conference schedule. Registration fee include- conference kit, souvenir, conference materials, breakfast and lunch during the conference. It does not include accommodation. The delegates have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. The organizing committee will take up the arrangements for accommodation in case of request. Interested persons should contact the ORGANISING SECRETARY in advance for accommodation.

Abstract Submission : On or before 28th Feb, 2011
Abstract acceptance : 5th March, 2011
Registration fee with full paper submission: on or before 15th March, 2011

Application Procedure : Registration fee is to be paid by a demand draft in favour of Organizing Secretary, National Conference on “Information Literacy and Higher Education in Digital Environment” Karnataka State Open University, Mysore, Karnataka, India payable at Mysore. The Demand draft, along with registration form, should be sent to Dr. J.
