D.J.COLLEGE OF DENTAL SCIENCES & RESEARCH – BDS ADMISSION 2010 – GHAZIABAD

The undergraduate dental training programme leading to BDS degree shall be of 5 years with 240 teaching days in each academic year. During this period, the student shall be required to have engaged in full time study at the Institute. The curriculum is designed to produce dental surgeons who are socially acceptable with ability to work safely and effectively on patients. The programme teaches the students diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and oral diseases ensuring world class standards. The curriculum is designed to produce dental surgeons who are capable of functioning effectively in rural and urban settings.

Eligibility : For taking admission in BDS Course the candidate has to fulfill certain eligibility criteria regarding age, education & domicile. The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examinations or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from any recognized Board or University having secured minimum 50% marks in aggregate in the above subjects. For a candidate belonging to ST/SC/OBC categories, minimum qualifying marks are 40% aggregate. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th standard are also eligible to apply for the course.

Examination : The regulations for the BDS examinations are as per those prescribed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra and the Dental Council of India. Evaluation of the students is done all year around based on performance and continuous objective assessment process. The students are graded and performance improvement is monitored to ensure students with superior skill ,knowledge and attitude. This helps in the assessing effectiveness and quality assurance of the B.D.S. teaching programme.

* Evaluation is achieved by two processes Internal assessment
* University examinations

Internal assessment evaluation is done through a series of tests and examinations conducted periodically by the institution. University or Summative evaluation is done by the university through examinations conducted at the end of the specified course.

Scheme OF Examination : The scheme of examination for B.D.S. Course shall be divided into five annual examinations conducted by the Dr B.R.Ambedkar University Agra. 1st B.DS examination is held at the end of the first academic year, 2nd B.D.S.. examination at the end of the second academic year, 3rd B.D.S. examination at the end of third academic year, 4th BDS at the end of the fourth academic year and final B.DS at the end of 5th academic year. A minimum of 240 days of teaching in each academic year is mandatory. A candidate who satisfies the requirements of attendance, progress and other rules laid down by the University shall be allowed to appear for the University examination.

How to Apply : Candidates who qualify the eligibilty criteria for BDS can apply for admission through UPCAT or UPCPMT. However candidates who have not qualified the above exams can take admission against lapse seats or management quota.

Application Procedure : The Prospectus and Application form may be obtained by post or in person from the office of the principal / secretary / chairman, D.J. College of Dental Sciences & Research, Modinagar or from any other participating College in U.P. along with Nationalised Banks such as main branches of Oriental Bank of Commerce on payment of Rs. 1050/- by cash / crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of “D.J. College of Dental Sciences & Research” Payable at Ghaziabad. Candidates requesting for Prospectus / Application Form by post are required to enclose Indian Postal Stamps worth Rs.50/- for postage along with the Bank Draft. The application must be accompanied by High School (12th) or equivalent Certificate and mark sheet etc. True copies of the certificates and mark sheets should be duly attested by a Gazetted officer or the principal of the College. Application Forms are required to be filled neatly and legibly by the candidate in his/her handwriting. Original Certificate and Mark Sheet must be presented for scrutiny at the time of admission.
