PUNE – DISASTER MANAGEMENT ADMISSION 2010 – SYMBIOSIS CENTRE FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

Considering the vulnerability of Indian sub-continent to most of the natural and man-made disasters and its socio – economic impact on the overall functioning of government machinery and community on whole, there is utmost necessity in India and other developing countries in the world to prepare the community to deal with emergency situations during the time of natural calamities. Hence this course aims at providing an in-depth knowledge about the various aspects of Disaster Management, Preparedness & Mitigation.

Eligibility: Graduate in any discipline, from a recognized University, OR Diploma holders, (3 years diploma from recognized Polytechnic) with minimum 5 years supervisory experience after completion of diploma, OR International students who have graduated from a recognized University.

Duration and Registration Validity: The duration of the DM program is of six months, while the registration is valid for one year.
Admission Procedure: Students may walk into SCDL with the completed application form, registration fee and all other required documents. If the student satisfies all admission and eligibility criteria, then the student can walk out with the Admission Letter, Identity Card (for confirmed admission) and Welcome Kit.

Students can also send the forms by post along with the required documents as per the checklist mentioned on the enrollment form and response envelope. Admission letter, ID card (for confirmed admissions) along with Welcome kit is sent to students by post to their communication address, if all eligibility criteria are satisfied.

Confirmation of Admission: Application forms sent by post along with registration fees and required documents are scrutinized for eligibility. Confirmed Admission Letter, Identity Card along with Welcome Kit is sent to students if the student is found to be eligible for admission.

Hope and jobs for students at Delhi University's job fair

New Delhi: At a time jobs are becoming scarce and pink slips the order of the day with the global meltdown, there is reason to cheer. Delhi University's newly-launched Central Placement Cell has provided jobs to at least 200 undergraduate students with major companies, including IT major Wipro, pharma giant Ranbaxy and BPO major Genpact. The first phase of recruitment took place between Dec 8 and 10 in which around 154 students got employment. The second phase, which began Jan 21 and ended on Tuesday, ensured jobs to 45 applicants, while 440 short-listed students are awaiting results of their applications. "Around 4,564 students from 48 colleges participated in this job fair in which around 200 students have been ensured good position in top companies. The response of the students was good," Seema M.
