If you have never experienced a Barcamp, then Barcamp needs a little explaining. Barcamp is an educational event that does not fit any traditional molds. But it’s more than an educational event, it’s a way for people with similar interests and passions to meet and share knowledge and experiences. Let’s start by defining what a Barcamp is not. It’s NOT a lecture. It’s NOT a presentation. It’s NOT a conference. In fact, it’s often called an “un-conference.” Barcamp is not about “Experts” educating non-experts. Barcamp assumes that everybody has some expertise, some knowledge or ideas that are worth sharing.

Eligibility: Anyone who feels like contributing is welcome. BarCamp is open to everyone – Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Students, Startups & Venture Capitalists.

Participation: There are a bunch of us working on Barcamp, so it’s really helpful when we all communicate. We have created a set of tools so that we can coordinate our efforts and make this a success. If you are looking for ways to help, start a conversation with us and we will be happy to suggest something that you can do that will fit your skill set and your personality. If I was going to suggest to somebody how to get started helping out, I would say look at the Barcamp wiki. It’s a raw brain-dump of all our ideas and plans and we kind of work off that to get things started.
Opportunities: Opportunity to interact with others in the startup ecosystem. Share and learn from each other’s experience in running businesses. Potential to meet a business partner, investor, employee, etc.

Hope and jobs for students at Delhi University's job fair

New Delhi: At a time jobs are becoming scarce and pink slips the order of the day with the global meltdown, there is reason to cheer. Delhi University's newly-launched Central Placement Cell has provided jobs to at least 200 undergraduate students with major companies, including IT major Wipro, pharma giant Ranbaxy and BPO major Genpact. The first phase of recruitment took place between Dec 8 and 10 in which around 154 students got employment. The second phase, which began Jan 21 and ended on Tuesday, ensured jobs to 45 applicants, while 440 short-listed students are awaiting results of their applications. "Around 4,564 students from 48 colleges participated in this job fair in which around 200 students have been ensured good position in top companies. The response of the students was good," Seema M.
