EMBO JOURNAL COVER CONTEST 2010
EMBO JOURNAL COVER CONTEST 2010
Introduction: The editors of The EMBO Journal are excited to announce a new contest to select the best cover image for 2010. Like in the previous years, one winner will be selected from each of the two categories: Best Scientific Cover and Best Non-Scientific Cover. The prize for both winners will be a free one-year print and online subscription to both The EMBO Journal and EMBO reports.
Awards: This prize will be awarded to the most captivating and thought-provoking contribution depicting a piece of molecular biology research. Images may be light or electron micrographs, 3D reconstructions or models of biological specimen or molecules, spectacular artefacts collected in the lab, original new views of lab equipment, or other images that you might have encountered in your research activity, and which may appeal to other molecular biologists.
Registration: To participate in the 2010 Cover Contest, please read our guidelines first. The deadline for submissions is 15 January 2010. An international selection committee will consider all contributions and announce the winner on 9 February 2010. The award-winning images will be featured on the EMBO Journal cover soon afterwards and, like in the previous years, other contributions may be taken into consideration as cover images of future issues of the journal.
Closing Date: The deadline for receipt of all contributions is 15 January 2010.
Rules: You may submit as many images to the cover contest as you like. However, please submit only images which you really feel are likely candidates for an EMBO Journal cover. Browse the cover gallery in our archive to get some idea of images previously selected by the contest jury. The EMBO Journal cover layout has no frames or banners around images, i.e. the image fills the whole cover, and therefore portrait orientation is preferable to landscape format.
