DU helpline flooded with calls
New Delhi: The admission helpline launched by Delhi University (DU) from last Monday flooded with calls from students to know details of the programme offered by the varsity.
Out of all offered courses, DU gets most calls from students regarding Journalism and Mass Communication, which seems most sought after subjects at DU.
While Hindi and English journalism are taught at a few colleges, only Indraprastha College for Women offers a degree course in Mass Media and Mass Communication.
"We have received several queries from students to know about the entrance examination and how to apply for Journalism and Mass Communication," said Ravneet Kaur, a student counsellor manning the helpline.
Admission forms are also available for admission to various undergraduate courses at DU.
The helpline is being manned by a team of over 20 student counsellors assisted by some faculty members.
Frequently asked questions are about the best college, and best course in Delhi University.
Several queries have also been received about admission to to English (Honours).
Last year, the University had decided that its constituent colleges would admit students to this course on the basis of their school-leaving marks.
However, the authorities have evolved a Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) for this year.
These are the numbers of counselors for North Campus (27662507 and 27662508) as well as South Campus (24119832 and 24114634).
Several queries have also been received from outside Delhi.
