CET dates may be revised

Bangalore: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is mulling over revising the dates of the Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses, as there is clash between the Lok Sabha elections in the state with the examination schedule.

According to the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, 11 Parliamentary constituencies will be held on April 30, the same date on which the CET for physics and chemistry subjects is scheduled.

The KEA had scheduled two-day CET on April 29 and 30.

"We would consult KEA officials on March 3, and decide on whether the CET dates needed to be revised," said Arvind Limbavali, Minister for Higher Education

Even S.G. Hegde, Commissioner of Department of Pre-University Education and Special Officer of CET, agreed that Tuesdays' meeting would clear the air.

However, sources in KEA ruled out the possibility of conducting the CET on one day.

It was after two years that KEA announced that CET 2009 will be conducted in four sessions over two days.
