First Govt. medical college in Uttarakhand established
Dehradun: Uttarakhand's first Government Medical College was inaugurated by Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri in Srinagar (Garhwal) on Monday. The 380-bed college, built at an initial cost of Rs.242 crores, was long demanded by the people of the region.
Inaugurating the college, Mr. Khanduri said, "All efforts would be made to make the college a center of excellence. It will be mandatory for doctors graduating from the college to work for some time in the hills to fulfill the needs of the people living in the remote regions." Khanduri also announced that a similar college would be setup in Almora.
