When the counter closed on day two at NMKRV College for Women on Wednesday, computer science remained the most preferred engineering branch with 184 students picking up seats. Electronics and communication followed with 183 seats. Mechanical engineering (179) and information science (107) are the other branches in vogue. While 75 students picked up electrical and electronics, 54 opted for telecommunication and 24 took civil engineering. Held Monday, the session was organized in collaboration with the ministry of human resource development's Human Resource Development Division and the ministry of communication and information technology. "The objective is to enhance the use of IT in areas of a citizen's interest by adopting simple and commonly used practices and methods," a varsity official said. IGNOU launches courses for nurses, teachers, parents

The two certificate courses and one diploma programme will be offered by the varsity through distance education mode, a varsity official said. "The first certificate course is for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives which aims to provide quality care to patients undergoing treatment under ayurvedic system of medicine," he said. The Adolescent Health and Counselling course will prepare teachers and parents to help adolescents to develop a healthy lifestyle and handle stress, he said. HSC, SSC supplementary exam results this week

This year, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) had, for the first time, conducted supplementary exams for students who failed in two subjects. This year, 40,000 students had given the supplementary exams. For the first time, the marksheets will not be given to students on the day of the results but on Friday. Students will, however, be able to see their results online after 11 am on Wednesday. The result of the supplementary exams conducted for SSC students will be declared on Thursday. Nearly 1,30,000 students have appeared for these exams. After inquiring into the disruption of the railway entrance exam at Valia Chhaganlal College, the RRB concluded that there was no paper leak and, hence, there will be no re-examination. “We checked the photocopies of the answer sheets that Rajkumar Patil had. They did not match any of the three question papers. There was no paper leak,” said BK Dadabhoy, chairman, RRB, Mumbai. CBSE devises novel plan to curb mark sheet forgery, launches ‘result bank’

More Education News: http://enteranceexamresults.blogspot.com/ New Delhi: India’s largest school education board, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), has launched a result depository which will allow anyone to check the authenticity of a candidate’s mark sheet. Any user who is registered with the board can log on to http://www.ndml.in, type the roll number and the password of a CBSE candidate, and access the mark sheet and certificate. Apart from the certificates of the class XII examination, the depository will also have the certificates of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The government believes that the decision will go a long way in curbing mark sheet forgery cases.
